Typically, Cillian Murphy has used his newfound Oscar-winner clout to go back to Ireland and work again with his Disco Pigs collaborator Enda Walsh on an adaptation of a sparely worded novel by Claire Keegan (who also wrote Foster, which became The Quiet Girl). “Small Things Like These, to paraphrase Walt Whitman, contains multitudes. A deep-dive character study anchored by Cillian Murphy’s fiercely internalised performance, Tim Mielant’s film is quietly emblematic of a changing Ireland.” – Irish Times
“I was so rapt, so caught up in this film, that I wasn’t aware that it was going to be the ending until the screen faded to black. It is an absorbing, committed drama.” – Guardian
