A delightful true story of a church group who tricked their way into the Rugby World Cup match by forming a Tongan brass band to provide showtime entertainment. Maka (John-Paul Foliaki) and Veni (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) fail to get tickets for the upcoming rugby match, disappointing both family and friends. They soon discover that the match is holding trials for showtime entertainment, and they resolve to form an all-Tongan marching band. Now it’s not just tickets on the line but the reputation of the entire Tongan community. As these non-musicians squeak and squawk their way into forming a band, help comes in the form of a Tongan newcomer with experience.

Red, White & Brass is a joyful and heartwarming film, brimming with both humor and heartfelt moments. At its core is Maka, a charming but frustrating character who craves the spotlight without effort. As family and friends grow weary of his antics, Maka is finally forced to confront his shortcomings and step up to the challenge, leading to a satisfying and uplifting transformation.

Fepulea’i makes a refreshingly sweet debut. Most of the actors are non-professionals and this adds to the charm. There’s a handmade feel that is genuinely appropriate for the story.  – KK
